Freshman year in photography was a new adventure and was full of learning new things. it taught me how to take pictures with the right settings and how to develop the film without exposing it. It also taught me how to blow it up and how to use all the chemicals. Freshman year was full of wild adventures and new experiences.
My first time developing film was very nerve racking, I was so nervous to mess everything up. I knew what I was suppose to do but i never done it before. I watched my friends do it but I was scared , with my luck, that it wouldn't work out right. I finally got enough courage to do it and as i was pouring the developer and pouring the fix, I was shaking! In the end, everything worked out fine. :)
Sophomore year, I signed up for Advanced photography but something happened and I didn't get in. :( I was so sad, because all my photography friends from freshman year had it again but without me. I signed up for Advanced photography for my junior year and i got in! I was so happy!
Taking nature pictures are my favorite. I love how on a sunny day, the lights shine through the green leaves and you can see all the shadows and all the holes in the leaves. You can see all the details in the grass, leaves, flowers, water, rocks, anything and everything. Taking pictures of the water, like in a lake or river, are the best when it has a gorgeous back ground behind it.
Senior year is going to be a fun year next year. Hopefully i get into advanced photography again and get to learn even more stuff about photography. Learning more ways to edit your pictures and more ways to use developer different ways is going to be fun.
I like film photography a lot better than digital. Digital is on the computer and working with the pictures with edits and filters. I'm not a big fan of that, i like to be more hands on and work on things rather than on the computer. It helps me learn better and keep things stuck in my head if i do it by hand. Digital is probably cheaper but i would rather spend money on film and just do the film.
Advanced photography has taught me a lot more than regular photography did to me. it showed me how to make effects by hand on your own pictures with a tennis ball, a paint brush, and paper towels. Advanced photography is a lot more fun and up beat than regular photography because you already know what your doing from regular, and you get to start a lot earlier than the regular photography kids because the other kids have to go through the lectures and chapters of photography.
My favorite photographer is Anne Geddes is a self-taught photographer who began creating her unique style from the start. She first took photos professionally when she was living in Hong Kong with her husband. She started a very small portraiture business by photographing the babies and young children of her friends and neighbors. A couple years later, Geddes and her husband left Hong Kong to return home to Australia. She started working at home and made her first holiday photographic card for her family. This led to making cards for her friends. Soon after, she launched her own customized greeting card business.
